STRATEGIC VISION AND DIRECTION OF THE DIASPORA ACTION FOR DEMOCRACY IN AFRICA

INTRODUCTION

All Africans outside the African continent are recognizing a restlessness in spirit, calling them to pull together themselves as African diaspora all regions across the globe.  The purpose which this call presents for any Pan African Organization is a mission to redeem, regenerate and restore the battered dignity of the humanity in the African person. This we believe should come about through harnessing the huge diaspora resources and networks to contribute to efforts aimed at reclaiming the African homeland continent, build and grow it into a civilized and modernized living space for its people and their sense of pride.

Africans are a society of communal peoples. The spirit in communalism is one of shared values and beliefs that anchors the process of consultation, participation and consensus building as basis for collective decision-making. These principles, as attributes of African communalism points to the intrinsic nature of Africa as a culturally democratic society. Democracy as a more institutionalized and formalized system therefore derives from advancement and sophistication of what is evidently communalism due to more complex nature of managing modern societies. The point therefore is that African is authentically imbued with democratic values and the effort to reclaim Africa into a more civilized and modernized society is to be founded on authentic African sense of communal democracy.
